The sudden jump in volume to max is a common issue often experienced on Android TV’s (specifically SONY) but can also happen on Android boxes.

The fix is really easy and should take no more than 3 minutes.

Let’s jump in.

1. The first thing you’ll need to do is open the STB emulator app and activate the on-screen remote. Using the touch pad of a keyboard remote select anywhere on the screen. This will enable the on-screen buttons as shown in the image below.

2. On an android box use the standard basic remote that comes with the device and select mouse cursor button. Use the up and down arrow key and then select OK button anywhere on screen to reveal the on-screen remote in STB emu. (TIP: if you don’t have a keyboard remote or lost basic remote you can use a regular computer mouse and connect via USB to TV or Box).

3. Use the on-screen VOL+ and VOL- down button in the app to set the volume to an acceptable level you’d feel comfortable with.

4. Use the on-screen ‘OK’ button to save the volume level you’ve just set. Do not use the OK button on the android remote, you must use the on-screen remote. This will permanently save the volume as the default level.
